Leigh Green

Ms. Prejean ImageLeigh Green is beginning her first year at Smith Academy after earning a Bachelor of Science in Teaching and Learning from the University of Houston.

Ms. Prejean is from Spring, Texas and is interested in reading, writing, volunteering, and spending time with family and friends. One of her favorite books is Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neal Hurtson.

She is curious about how to live a better life by doing things she loves.

Josalynn Harris


Ms. HarrisJosalynn Harris has been working at Smith Academy since 2012 and has been working in education since 1996. She has earned a Bachelors and two Masters degrees from Prairie View A&M University.

Ms. Harris is from Waco, Texas and is interested in spending time with family, horseback riding, tennis, writing, reading, traveling. Some of her favorite books include Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren and What MaryJo Shared by Janice May Udry.

She is wonders when education will become a priority in the United States.

Allison Randle

Ms. PettyMrs. Allison Randle joins the Smith Elementary team in the fall of 2018. Mrs. Randle is from Hearne, Texas and graduated with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston- Downtown. For the past three years, Mrs. Randle taught 2nd grade math and science at Harris Elementary.

In her spare time, Mrs. Randle enjoys reading, painting, traveling and spending time with her family. She is curious about other cultures and societies. Two of her favorite books are The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt and Grace for President by Kelly DiPucchio.

Gabriella Quintanilla

 

Gabriella Quintanilla

Gabriella Quintanilla is from Houston. After graduating from Victory Early College High School, she attended the University of Houston. Ms. Quintanilla graduated summa cum laude in 2018 with a BS Teaching and Learning. In the spring of 2018, Ms. Quintanilla completed her student teaching at Smith Elementary. She is happy to join our staff where she will teach 2nd grade Spanish language arts. 

Ms. Quintanilla enjoys exercising, exploring the outdoors, reading, writing, and visiting new places. Some of her favorite books include Wonder by R J Palacios, The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt, and Esperanza Rising by Pam Munos Ryan.

Diane Velasquez

Ms. VelasquezDiane Velasquez has been working at Smith Academy since 2014. She has earned a Bachelor degree in Public Relations from the University of Texas - San Antonio.

Ms. Velasquez is from Houston, Texas and is interested in spontaneous trips and trying new restaurants. Some of her favorite books include Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden and Oh, the Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss.

She is curious about different cultures.

Jessica Gomez

Jessica GomezJessica Gomez graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BA is in Psychology. She has also has a Masters degree in School Counseling from the University of St. Thomas. She began her teaching career in 2011 and has taught in Spring ISD and Houston ISD. She joins the Smith Elementary staff as a 2nd grade teacher this year.


Ms. Gomez is curious about different cultures and how students learn. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. One of her favorite books is Oh, the Places You’ll Go! By Dr. Seuss.
