Dolexia Allen - 3rd Grade - Language Arts

Mrs. AllenDolexia Allen has been working at Smith Academy since 2012 and has been working in education since 2004. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Masters Degree in Special Education from Texas State University.

Mrs. Allen is from Bonus, Texas and is interested in reading, cooking for her family, walks in the park, and visiting new places. Some of her favorite books include To Market, To Market by Anne Miranda and Cousins by Virginia Hamilton.

She is interested in anything historical.

Margarita Flores - 3rd & 4th Grade - Spanish Language Arts


Ms. FloresMargarita Flores is beginning her third year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 1993. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico and a Bilingual Generalist degree from Lone Star College in Cy-Fair.

Mrs. Flores is from Mazatlan, Mexico and is interested in oil painting. Some of her favorite books include The Pillars of the EarthFall of Giants, andWinter of the World by Ken Follett.

She is curious about traveling and learning about different cultures.

Jennifer Hill - 3rd Grade - Math & Science


Mrs. Hill

Jennifer Hill has been working at Smith Academy since 2012 and has been working in education since 2007. She earned a Bachelors of Business Management in Human Resource Management from Abilene Christian University.

Mrs. Hill is from Dallas, Texas and is interested in making jewelry and spending time with her family. Some of her favorite books include Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman and anything about history.

She is curious about learning about things from the past.

Monica Humphery - 3rd Grade - Math & Science

Ms. Humphery PhotoMonica Humphery is beginning her first year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 2014. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Teaching and Learning from the University of Houston.

Mrs. Humphery is from Houston, Texas and is interested in reading, writing, dance, and poetry. Some of her favorite books include The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis and The Adventures of Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren.

She is curious about writing novels, political science, and psychology.

Angela Johnson - 4th Grade - Math

Ms. Johnson

Angela Johnson has been working at Smith Academy since 2014 and has been working in education since 2013. She has earned a Bachelors degree from Prairie View A&M University.

Ms. Johnson is from Houston, Texas and graduated from Eisenhower HS. She is interested in traveling to exotic locations, reading, theatre, and dancing. Some of her favorite books include A Long Way Gone, Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah and The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd.

She is curious about the philosophical questions that have plagued man since the beginning of time.

Steven Krohn - 4th Grade - Language Arts

Mr. KrohnSteven Krohn is beginning his third year at Smith Academy. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a focus in English Language Arts from Michigan State University.

Mr. Krohn is from Lake Orion, Michigan and is interested in being outdoors, taking road trips, playing basketball, and skateboarding. Some of his favorite books include One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams Garcia  andAfter Visiting Friends by Michael Hainey.

He is curious about individual life stories, behavioral psychology, urban education, and geography.

Karese Leavatts - 3rd Grade - Language Arts

 

Mrs. LeavattsKarese Leavatts has been working at Smith Academy since 2012. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and is currently working towards a Masters of Education from Sam Houston State University.

Mrs. Leavatts is from Tyler, Texas and is interested in cooking, spending time with family, reading, and learning about different cultures. Some of her favorite books include Pigeon books by Mo Willems and Chrysanthemumby Kevin Henkes.

She is curious about integrating technology into her teaching and understanding how young minds learn best.

Arleen McManus - 3rd & 4th Grade - Language Arts

Mrs. McManusArleen McManus is beginning her third year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 2011. She has a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from the University of Architecture from Argentina.

Mrs. McManus is from Spring, Texas and is interested in puzzles, drawing, and reading. Some of her favorite books include Michelangelo: Scultpor, Painter, Architect by Charles Sala and Michelangelo Buonarroti and The History of Art: The Essential Guide to Painting Through the Ages by A.N. Hodge.

She is curious about art and science.

Serjio Medina - 3rd & 4th Grade - Math, Science, & Social Studies

Mr. MedinaSerjio Medina is beginning his third year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 2013. He earned a Bachelor or Science Degree in Bilingual Education from The University of Texas at Austin. 

Mr. Medina graduated from Aldine HS and is interested in traveling, kayaking, running, exercising, building, and spending time with family and friends. Some of his favorite books includeNacer Bailando by Alma Flor Ada and Sylvia and Aki by Winifred Conkling. 

He is curious about his culture and the different states in Mexico.

Diondra Miladinovic - 3rd & 4th Grade - English Language Arts, Science, & Social Studies

Mrs. MiladinovicDiondra Miladinovic is beginning her third year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 2012. She earned a Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in biology from the University of Texas - Permian Basin.

Mrs. Miladinovic is from San Antonio, Texas and is interested in playing sports, reading books, and watching Korean dramas. Some of her favorite books include A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

She is curious about different countries and their cultures. All individuals are unique and come from different backgrounds.

Kamilah Slieman - 4th Grade - Writing & Science

Ms. Slieman PhotoKamilah Slieman is beginning her first year at Smith Academy after earning a Bachelor of Arts in World Literature from The Ohio State University.

Ms. Slieman is from Watauga, Texas and is interested in reading, listening to music, and watching TV sitcoms. Some of her favorite books include I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson and Emma by Jane Austen.

She is curious about learning languages and about cultures from around the world.
