Dolexia Allen 

Dolexia AllenDolexia Allen has been working at Smith Academy since 2012 and has been working in education since 2004. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Masters Degree in Special Education from Texas State University.

Mrs. Allen is from Bonus, Texas and is interested in reading, cooking for her family, walks in the park, and visiting new places. Some of her favorite books include To Market, To Market by Anne Miranda and Cousins by Virginia Hamilton.

She is interested in anything historical.

Samantha Garza


Samantha GarzaSamantha Garza joins the Smith Academy teaching staff after having taught middle school in Fort Worth ISD for two years. She earned a Bachelors from Texas A&M University.

Ms. Garza is from Alice, Texas and is interested in cooking, reading, traveling, and crafting. Some of her favorite books include The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

She is curious about history, different cultures, traveling, and best practices in education.

Wesley Hammer


Wesley HammerWesley Hammer is beginning his second year at Smith Academy after earning a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Grand View University.

Mr. Hammer is from Dallas, Texas and is interested in running, playing XBox, sports, outdoor activities, and concerts. Some of his favorite books include The Leader in Me by Stephen & Sean Covey and Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein.

He wonders if the Astros will win the World Series this year.

Jennifer Hill 

Jennifer Hill

Jennifer Hill has been working at Smith Academy since 2012 and has been working in education since 2007. She earned a Bachelors of Business Management in Human Resource Management from Abilene Christian University.

Mrs. Hill is from Dallas, Texas and is interested in making jewelry and spending time with her family. Some of her favorite books include Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman and anything about history.

She is curious about learning about things from the past.

Steven Krohn

Steven KrohnSteven Krohn is beginning his second year at Smith Academy. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a focus in English Language Arts from Michigan State University.

Mr. Krohn is from Lake Orion, Michigan and is interested in being outdoors, taking road trips, playing basketball, and skateboarding. Some of his favorite books include One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams Garcia  and After Visiting Friends by Michael Hainey.

He is curious about individual life stories, behavioral psychology, urban education, and geography.

Serjio Medina

Sergio MedinaSerjio Medina is beginning his second year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 2013. He earned a Bachelor or Science Degree in Bilingual Education from The University of Texas at Austin.

Mr. Medina graduated from Aldine HS and is interested in traveling, kayaking, running, exercising, building, and spending time with family and friends. Some of his favorite books include Nacer Bailando by Alma Flor Ada and Sylvia and Aki by Winifred Conkling.

He is curious about his culture and the different states in Mexico.

Yessenia Perales

Yessenia PeralasYessenia Peralas is beginning her second year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 2013. She received a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Sam Houston State University and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in International Literacy from SHSU.

Ms. Perales is from Houston, Texas and is interested in cooking, painting, knitting, and any outdoor activities. Some of her favorite books include The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and Oh, The Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss.

She is curious about history, astrology, traveling, and experiencing other cultures.
