Lara Philips

Lara PhilipsLara Phillips graduated from Texas A&M University with BS in Sociology. She is from Bryan, Texas and began her teaching career in 2016 at Hill Intermediate in Aldine, where she taught 5th grade language arts and mathematics.

Ms. Phillips enjoys doing anything outdoors, including running, swimming, or going on a bike ride. She also enjoys cooking and trying new recipes. Two of her favorite books include The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares and The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Ms. Phillips looks forward to joining the Smith Elementary team and motivating her students to their full potential.

Diondra Miladinovic

Diondra MiladinovicDiondra Miladinovic is beginning her third year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 2012. She earned a Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in biology from the University of Texas - Permian Basin.

Mrs. Miladinovic is from San Antonio, Texas and is interested in playing sports, reading books and watching Korean dramas. Some of her favorite books include A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

She is curious about different countries and their cultures. All individuals are unique and come from different  backgrounds.

Susan Aguilera


Susan AguileraMs. Susan Aguilera joins the Smith Elementary team in 2018 after having served as a bilingual teacher at Anderson Academy for the past three years. She has six years of experience. Ms. Aguilera graduated from the University of Houston – Downtown in 2011 and recently received her Masters in School Administration from Houston Baptist University.

Ms. Aguilera is from Houston and enjoys traveling throughout Mexico to learn about her culture, especially the southern part of Mexico. Some of her favorite books include The Fifth Mountain by Paul Coleho, I Wish You More by Viola Canales, What Do You Do With an Idea? by Kobi Yamada, and I Need My Monster by Amanda Noll.

Kari Dierks

Kari Dierks

Kari Dierks is beginning her third year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 1995. She earned an Associate Arts Degree from Austin Community College, Bachelors of Science from Mankato State University, and a Masters in Administration from Sam Houston State University.


Ms. Dierks is from Waldorf, Minnesota and is interested in traveling, puzzles, games, sports, reading, movies, and spending time with friends. Some of her favorite books include Oh, the Places You'll Go!! by Dr. Seuss and Math Curse by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith.

She is curious about places all over the world and what it will be like to go and visit them.
