Mary Alyson Crismon - Math Skills Specialist

 

Mrs. CrismonMary Crismon is beginning her second year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 2002. She has a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University.

Mrs. Crismon is from Houston, TX and enjoys reading and swimming. She enjoyed reading the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling and the Lord of the Rings Series by J.R.R. Tolkien.

She is curious about other countries and best practices in education.

Julia Cuthbertson - Literacy Coach


Ms. CuthbertsonJulia Cuthbertson is beginning her third year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 2013. She earned a Masters of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Minor in Education from State University of New York at Buffalo.

Ms. Cuthbertson is from Buffalo, New York and is interested in reading, traveling, eating at local restaurants, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on the Buffalo Bills! Some of her favorite books include the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling and The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt.

She is curious about how to incorporate visual arts, math, and science into her class read alouds.

Monica Donaldson - Librarian

Mrs. DonaldsonMonica Donaldson returned to Smith Academy in 2015 has been working in education since 1990. She was named Teacher of the Year at Bethune Academy. She has a Bachelors of Science degree from Sam Houston State University and is currently working on her Masters in Library Science.

Mrs. Donaldson is from The Woodlands, Texas and is interested in traveling and sports. She enjoys reading the Janet Evanavich series.

She is curious about skydiving and off shore fishing.

Alba Escobar - Math Specialist

Ms. EscobarAlba Escobar is beginning her third year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 1994. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University at Dominguez Hills.

Ms. Escobar is interested in reading and music. Some of her favorite books include the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer and The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks.

She is curious about what it would be like traveling into space.

Alicia Garza - Speech Pathologist


Ms. GarzaAlicia Garza is beginning her third year at Smith Academy and has been working in education since 2004. She earned a Bachelors in Spanish from the University of Houston and a Masters of Science-Speech-Language Pathology from Texas Woman's University.

Ms. Garza is from Houston, Texas and is interested in birdwatching, gardening, working with homeless cats, vegan cooking, and traveling. Some of her favorite books include The Power of Now by Eckart Tolle and The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.

She is curious about what drives people to do what they do and daily mysteries.

Kimberly Johnson - Special Education Staff

Kimberly Johnson has been working at Smith Academy since 1998 and has been working in education since 1988. She has earned a Bachelors degree in Teaching Special Education/Reading from Sam Houston State University.

Ms. Johnson is from Houston, Texas and is interested in reading, movies, water sports, technology, crafts, history, and collecting teddy bears. Some of her favorite books include Miss Twiggley's Tree by Dorthea Warren Fox and The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.

She is curious about how to benefit learning through the use of technology.

Ms. Sheppard is from Galveston, Texas and is interested in gardening, music, sewing, and being with family. Some of her favorite books include The Stories of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis.
She is curious about the future of our world in the coming generations and wonders how to best impact her students' minds to make big impacts to better our futures.

Ms. Teresa Flores is from Zacatecas, Mexico and is interested in traveling, dancing, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.
